SIX WEEK PERFORMANCE CAMP: JUNE 30 - AUGUST 10, 2008
For applicants entering 6-9th grade in September 2008 FULL
A rich, new, original work from Berkeley Playhouse, Bravado takes an honest and sometimes hilarious up-to-the-moment look at middle school issues, the ups and downs and ins and outs of this awkward and awesome age group, propelled through the expression of contemporary song, acting and dance.
In the spirit of Fame, A Chorus Line, and Spelling Bee, Bravado's Middle school students audition for a fictitious High School of the Arts forcing them to look deep to find out who they are, what they want from themselves, and what they can expect from others. Weaving fresh middle school perspectives with contemporary music theatre throughout, Bravado is a vibrant, funny, and poignant peek at a crazy time of rapid changes that few of us remember and some of us will never forget!
This six week contemporary music theater performance camp ends with a performance weekend at the Ashby Stage and includes: daily rehearsals, movement, voice, dance, improvisation games, and creative stagecraft activities. Auditions and try-ons for roles will be held the first week of camp.
