About the Show:
Director: Jennifer King
Music Director: Angela Zullinger
Synopsis: When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains on the eve of World War II provides a thrilling and inspirational finale to one of the most popular musicals of all time.

About the Program:
Students on the Berkeley Playhouse mainstage participate in an educational program which includes special training in addition to rehearsals and the opportunity to work alongside adult professional actors.
Tuition for this program is $800 in installments or $750 if you pay in full.
Youth rehearsals: begin August 28
2 afternoons per week of youth-only rehearsals and training.
Regular Rehearsals: Von Trapp children will also be called to rehearsals with the adults as needed. They won’t be called the full time, but please let us know about any scheduling conflicts at the audition.

Tues-Friday, 6-9pm
Saturdays-Sundays, 10am-5pm

Shows: October 26 – December 2 (Youth are double-cast, so students perform ~half of all shows.)
Thurs & Fri at 7pm
Sat at 2pm and 7pm
Sun at 12pm and 5pm
Special matinee for local schools on Thursday, Nov 1st at 10am
Special matinee performance at 2pm on Friday, Nov 24
No performance on November 23 (Thanksgiving)
What to Prepare: Students will be asked to sing the following excerpt from Do-Re-Mi for the auditions. They will not be required to perform a monologue or scene.
Berkeley Playhouse youth auditions are friendly and supportive. We work to create an environment where students feel welcome and comfortable in giving their best performance.
We strongly encourage you to go over the song and scene with your student to help them feel more confident about the audition. Memorization is not required.
Please register ahead of time to ensure that you are seen. We cannot guarantee an audition to anyone not pre-registered.
