What is it?

When the audience arrives for The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) they won't simply find their seats and wait patiently for the lights to go down. When folks attend Once on this Island, they cannot expect the show to begin at 7 pm as advertised. And when everyone arrives for Peter Pan, the Musical, if they think they are going to sit back and enjoy the swashbuckling heros, they obviously haven't been to a Berkeley Playhouse performance!

At a Berkeley Playhouse production, your theatre experience begins the moment you get to the Ashby. So, at The BFG, you will be at Sophie's birthday party (in fact you will help to create her presents), at Once on this Island you'll feel the heat and smell the breeze of the Caribbean, and at Peter Pan, you'll be the one learning how to swashbuckle pirates! Our 'pre-engagement experiences' are there to awaken your senses of sight, smell, touch, and sound and get you involved in the play in thrilling, creative, multi-sensory ways even before the 'real show' begins! Pre-engagement connects you and your family more deeply with the production and the arts by enlivening all your senses as well as your imagination!
