Planet Z

Grades 7-12

About the Program: Students work with professional directors, choreographers and designers to create a fully-produced show of their own.

About the Show: Planet “Z” is a crazy planet where the scenery consists of old stage sets and the population is undead and hungry. When we last left our heroes, the true love of a space-travelling teen and a flesh-eating zombie triumphed over the obvious complications. What will happen when a temporal experiment upsets the timeline and throws the history of Planet Z into chaos? With an original script by Jon Tracy and a score of classic rock hits, this Rocky-Horror-esque musical will leave you laughing and touched by the potent combination of teen angst and zombie survival.

About the Show:

Directed by Berkeley Playhouse Artistic Director, Elizabeth McKoy.

Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this delicious stage adaptation. We are bringing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory back to its cinematic and musical roots – the 1970s. This is a funkadelic interpretation of the classic Roald Dahl story. We are using the musical flavor of the decade to reenergize this beloved classic. The heart-warming story of rediscovering love, faith and hope in the future is given new life and cultural resonance with a groovy, fun musical reimagining that places it firmly within the cultural context of the 1970s and features songs from the classic family film in a fresh and funky new way

Into the Woods Jr

Grades 5-7

About the Program: Students work with professional directors, choreographers and designers to create a fully-produced show of their own in a Summer day-camp environment.

About the Show: An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch…who raps? They’re all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). What begins as a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

Schedule: July 9 – August 12
Rehearsals Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm at the Julia Morgan
Performances August 11-12

Tuition: $1775
