From the Executive Director
Dear Friends:
Thank you for supporting Berkeley Playhouse. Our Professional Company has built – in a very short time – a reputation for staging shows that are of the highest quality. We’re proud of that. But what you may not know is that we have three other equally important divisions: Our Youth Company continues to grow and produce high-quality, ensemble-based productions that are designed and directed by some of the Bay Area’s top professionals; Our Conservatory Programs offer a variety of classes for all ages (really!); and our School and Community Outreach initiatives have been taking the magic of live theatre right into local schools where we really try to touch the hearts and minds of our community’s young people. This Fall, we served 400 students, grades 1-12!
The merger of Berkeley Playhouse with the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, Inc. in June opened a whole new world of possibilities. By combining the resources of these two youth- and family-focused organizations, we will be able to expand by leaps and bounds the important work we do in our community. Many exciting things to come – stay tuned! We hope you’ll be moved to become involved in our organization…Perhaps you’d like to lend a hand as an usher or set-builder. Maybe you’d like to write a check to support our need-based scholarship fund or become a major sponsor of new lighting and sound equipment at the Julia Morgan. Or perhaps you love what we do so much that you want to buy a BP 2009-2010 season subscription for each member of your family.
All gestures of support and involvement are appreciated. You can find out how to help by visiting the BP and JM websites:

Sincerely,

Jerry R. Foust
