THEATRE IMPROVEMENT FUND – TICKET FEES

Did you know that the $1-per-ticket fee (or $5-per-subscription-order fee) goes directly to a dedicated Theater Improvement Fund?  The money collected from these fees will go toward new sound and lighting and other theater upgrades to make the Julia Morgan one of the best performing arts venues – for audiences and performers –  in the Bay Area.

HOW YOU CAN HELP MAKE NEW LIGHTS & SOUND A REALITY

The Julia Morgan Center for the Arts will undergo considerable technical upgrades in the coming months.  Meyer Sound and Deck Productions will install  a top-of-the-line sound system.  Based in Berkeley, Meyer is one of the premier corporations offering professional audio systems today and has offered JMCA a generous discount.  The new PA system will include all new Meyer speakers, stage monitors, an audio processor, and a 32-channel Yamaha digital console.  The lighting system, to be supplied and installed by DTC Lighting of Emeryville, will upgrade our lighting inventory by adding 36 new instruments, a follow spot, and a state-of-the-art dimming system that will allow for almost twice as many channels.

These new systems will result in a world-class experience for our performers and audiences.   For our renters, it allows their performers to be seen and heard like never before in our venue. Outdated and sometimes unreliable equipment will be replaced by audio and lighting systems that are robust, professional, and versatile.

We need your help!  In order to raise the $100,000+ it will take to finish the project, we’re asking for individual donations.  Whatever you can give will be appreciated.  Donations of $500 or more will be recognized on a permanent lobby plaque and special seating at JMCA’s 100th anniversary event in 2010.  Donations for the project can be made by clicking here:  Lighting & Sound Donations, or by contacting Managing Director Jerry R. Foust.
